Sure, some celebrities were born with amazing hair and good
bone structure. But the shiny, radiant skin they show off on the red carpet?
That takes work!
*Shed dead skin!
Mix a cup of sugar and a half cup of olive oil, and then rub
it into the damp skin in circular motions. “Do this at home, and you won't
believe how soft your skin is afterwards”, says makeup artist Joanna Schlip.
*Treat your elbows roughly!
For sloughing dead skin off especially rough spots, you
might need something with more muscle. "I cut a lemon in half, pour course
sea salt on both halves, and grind each into the elbows, heels, and
knees," says Barnes, who used this technique on Lopez before the 2008 Oscars.
*For once - don't wax!
You can still remove hair—just use a razor. "I always
tell my clients not to wax before a big event because it causes ingrown hairs
and little red bumps," says Schlip. "You get a much smoother look by
shaving. And you're getting a really good exfoliation, too.
*Oil up!
Body oil adds a nice sheen but can be messy. Makeup artist
Troy Surratt recommends this instead: Add a few drops of oil to bathwater,
soak, and then towel off. "It's a great way to avoid too much slip on the
skin with just the right amount of moisturizing benefits."
